Course Description

The Sports and Recreation course is a full time comprehensive sports course designed to prepare students for a career in the leisure industry or to provide a pathway to further study.

The course aims to encourage students to engage in a broad area of study in both academic and practical areas. Successful candidates of this course can enjoy a range of careers in the Health and Fitness Industry.

Other areas of study include business subjects and communications. The course also includes practical experience of the world of work through the Work Experience Module.

This course carries FETAC Level 5 qualifications and is an access route to other Third Level Institutions.

Career Options

This Course aims to enable students to:

  • Acquire skills required for entry into direct employment in the Leisure    Centre/Gym or to  become self         employed.
  • Obtain certification in this course which will allow        progression to selected courses in Third Level    Colleges.
  • Enrich their daily lives

The School’s Career Guidance Counsellor is available throughout the year by appointment to discuss and advise.

Mature students (over 23) – No requirement
