About this Course
Graduates of this programme will receive a Professional Diploma in Dairy Farm Management (Level 7) which will be validated by University College Dublin. The programme incorporates two years Work Experience on the most progressive Irish dairy farms with an option to travel overseas. This programme aims to equip future dairy farmers with a broad range of skills, experience and practical knowledge to become successful managers. Graduates will be well equipped to manage and expand their own commercial dairy farms or manage dairy enterprises for others.
Core Subjects: Dairy Technology, Dairy Farm Management, Growing your dairy business and Professional Work Experience – placement on a minimum of two approved host farms with the opportunity to complete some of this in New Zealand.
Course Location: Students will spend two years on approved host farms. 6 weeks of training at Kildalton College & Moorepark Research Centre.
Employment Prospects: Graduates who completed this course have gone on to manage their own dairy farms or manage commercial dairy farms. The programme is the industry recognised standard for professional dairy farm managers, capable of expanding the industry – like with the targets set out in Food Wise 2025.
