Practical Skills is a full time, 1 year, level 3 course run by Waterford Youth and Training Education Centre.
This course offers certification at FAS/FETAC Level 3 Major Award in Vocational Employment Skills.
This course is the gateway/entry level programme for other WYTEC courses on offer.
Content Include the following:
- Safety Awareness
- Preparation for work
- Information Technology
- Work Experience
- Glass Etching
- Glass Mosaic
- Picture Framing
- Brick & Block-laying
- Wall Tiling
- Skills 4U
- Painting & Decorating
Applicants must be between the ages of 16 – 21 years.
The course will be run on a full-time basis from Monday – Friday
FÁS Training Allowance is paid to all trainees who are eligible.
ARE YOU ELIGIBLE FOR A FÁS Training Allowance?
If you are under 18 years of age – Yes
If you are over 18 of age you must be in receipt of any of the following payments to be entitled to a FÁS Training Allowance:
- Job Seekers Benefit/Allowance
- One Parent Family Allowance.
- Disability Benefit etc.
You will receive the full training allowance ,once you are in receipt of any (even €1) social welfare payment.
If you are over 18 years of age and not in receipt of a social welfare payment you may sign up for a course but you will not receive a FÁS Training Allowance.
You must be between the ages of 16 – 21 to be eligible.
- No qualifications – Yes you are eligible.
- Junior Certificate – Yea you are eligible.
- LCA – we will make applications to FÁS on your behalf (we cannot) guarantee you will accepted)
- Leaving Certificate – No not eligible
The course is 12 months duration, which includes in company work experience.
