Introduction to Horticulture

This is a general horticulture course for those interested in gardening. You will need a reasonable level of fitness and an interest in working outdoors. Basic computer skills and a sufficient level of English are also required to join this course.
Duration: Two years
Tuesday & Wednesday 9.30 – 2.30
Modules include:
- Plant identification, care and maintenance
- Safe horticultural practice
- Horticultural science
- Growing fruit
- Growing vegetables
- Establishing trees and shrubs
- Landscape construction & maintenance
For those wishing to complete the Major Award, we can also offer Communications and Work Experience components.
Assessment is continuous during the programme and includes skill demonstration, collection of work, theory/practical exams.
Progression:
Horticulture Level 5 or employment/self-employment opportunities in garden centres, ground maintenance etc.
