Qualifications required to tutor Hairdressing in a Further Education Centre as per Department of Education and Science is outlined in their circular CL 47/00

“Appendix 2 :  HAIRDRESSING – A full apprenticeship or training period of 4 years duration with the full Department of Education and Science Senior Trade Certificate in hairdressing  AND Not less than three years approved post-apprenticeship experience in hairdressing to include a minimum of two years industrial experience in hairdressing.”

To work as a hairdressing tutor for a training academy qualifications required may vary, e.g. options available are:

–      A Diploma in Education and training for Hairdressing provided by ITEC.
( To apply for this course one has to have four years commercial experience). This course is offered by various
training providers including Gainfort Academy, Ardcavan, Wexford. Visit the following link for further information
