General Learning
PrintThis is a one year part-time course leading to a QQI General Learning Major Level 4 Award.
This course typically runs for three or four mornings per week for students wishing to achieve a major award at level four and is completed in one academic year.

Communications L4. Code 4N0689
The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the relevant knowledge, skill and competence to communicate verbally and nonverbally in routine everyday tasks, and in work-related tasks while under supervision.
Team Working L4. Code 4N1169
The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the relevant knowledge, skill and competence to act as an effective member of a team, completing team-related tasks under instruction, while taking responsibility own activities and actions.
Work Preparation / Work Experience 4N1168
The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the relevant knowledge, skill and competence to participate in the workplace for a limited time and to carry out work-related tasks while under supervision.
Tourism Visitor Care L4. Code 4N1989
The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to understand the social and economic benefits of tourism and to appreciate their own role in providing tourism visitor customer care.
Customer Service L4. Code 4N1989
The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to offer efficient customer service within a work, social or voluntary environment operating with some autonomy while under direction.
Computer Applications L4. Code 4N1112
The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to use common generic computer applications. It is designed to develop skills in database, spreadsheets and computer graphics.
Information and Technology Skills L4. Code 4N1125
The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to use applications in information technology. It is designed to develop skills in data entry, word processing, and using the internet.
Word Processing L4. Code 4N1123
The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to use word processing applications to supervised employment standard.
Digital Media Technology L4. Code 4N1858
The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to use a range of digital media technologies in a supervised environment, and to understand their uses in an organisational context. It is designed to enable progression to further education, training or supervised employment.
Web Design L4. Code 4N1122
The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to design and construct a basic website.
Desktop Publishing L4. Code 4N1854
The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to produce a range of single page documents containing text and graphic images using desktop publishing. It is designed to enable progression to further education, training or supervised employment.
Mathematics L4. Code 4N1987
The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the relevant knowledge, skill and competence to apply a range of mathematical skills and tools to a variety of contexts, with limited conceptual understanding.
English as a Second Language. Code 4N1180
The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the relevant knowledge, skill and competence to communicate at a lower intermediate level in English, socially and in work-related tasks while under supervision.
