LEARNING OUTCOMES

1. Perform basic food preparation tasks in compliance with current regulation and legislation in
hygiene and safety practices, to include the preparation of a selection of breakfast and lunch
menu items
2. Maintain food preparation areas and kitchen equipment in a clean and orderly condition
3. Demonstrate an understanding of the meal experience concept and serve plated food and
accompanying beverages to customers in a restaurant environment
4. Offer efficient customer service within a work, social or voluntary environment operating with
some autonomy while under direction
5. Participate in the workplace for a limited time and carry out work-related tasks while under
supervision
6. Communicate verbally and nonverbally in routine everyday tasks, and in work-related tasks while
under supervision
7. Display an ability to interact positively and effectively in the managed learning environment
and/or the learner’s individual work experience situation
8. Demonstrate a specified range of knowledge, skills and competence, determined by the elective
module choices made by learners, as required for their chosen career paths
