Accounting for Non Specialists
PrintThe aim of this module is to facilitate non-specialist accountants to understand, prepare and interpret internal accounting information and recommend business decisions based on their interpretation. Students will also learn the criteria used to make operational decisions.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module, a student will be able to
- Explain the basic terminology, concepts and techniques used in the field of accounting, with emphasis on costs and costing
- Use costing information and techniques to recommend short-term courses of action and have an appreciation of non-financial factors used in decision making
- Demonstrate a comprehension of all major aspects of the business budget process and be capable of interpreting major budget variances
- Comprehend pricing techniques and the various options for pricing
- Discuss current trends and issues in management accounting
